横浜市の山中市長は職員に対する重大なパワハラ行為があったと認められたことを受け、先月28日に市議会の議長に対して辞職届を提出しました。

山中市長は2021年8月の市長選挙で、カジノを含むIR＝統合型リゾート施設の誘致撤回やコロナ対策の強化などを訴えて初当選し、去年8月の選挙では自民党や公明党、立憲民主党の地方組織からも支援を受けて再選を果たしました。

山中市長は、公約に掲げた子育て政策や防災対策の充実、脱炭素社会の実現などに取り組んできましたが、職員へのパワハラというコンプライアンスの問題により、2期目の任期の途中での辞職となりました。

横浜市の市長が任期の途中で辞職するのは、2009年に当時の中田宏市長が新たな政治活動に専念したいなどとして2期目の途中で辞職して以来です。
