雄大な浅間山の懐に抱かれ、ちょっとした秘境感の漂う北軽井沢の森の中で、ホテルのような快適性と本格的なアウトドアを両立する「Earthboat Kitakaruizawa」。いま話題の「NOT A HOTEL」の敷地内にあり、キッチン、トイレ、シャワー、そしてサウナまで完備したトレーラーハウスだ。キャンプの醍醐味でもある焚き火を本格的に楽しめるファイヤーピットも常設し、満天の星の下、揺らめく炎を眺めながら、時を忘れて自然の中に没入できる。
木質素材のCLTを使用することで、従来とは一線を画す耐久性と快適性を実現。断熱材などを使用せずに自然との調和を重視したサステナブルな空間は、2024年度グッドデザイン賞も受賞した。オプションで敷地内の日本料理レストラン「石朴」が利用できるのも手軽でありがたい。ひとりが寂しければ愛犬、愛猫と一緒の滞在ももちろん可能だ。

札幌から車で約50分。北海道・長沼町の見渡す限りの自然の中にポツンと立つ、趣の異なる2棟の一棟貸し別荘。その1つが「MAOIQ」だ。オーナーは、SHIROが手がけた「MAISON SHIRO」にも空間プランナーとして参加した武隈洋輔。天井までのガラス窓から自然光が差し込む開放的な空間に、札幌のアンティークショップ「hotaru des hotaru」の洒落たヴィンテージ家具が並び、個人宅のような落ち着きとホテルのような快適さが同居する。
肌寒くなれば薪ストーブに火を灯し、自然を満喫しながら、好きなように過ごす。ここでは朝食付きプランが必須だろう。「POTORI BAKERY」のパンや「ハイジ牧場」のソーセージ、「卵ラン農場ムラタ」の平飼い有精卵、コーヒーはMAOIQにほど近い「丘の上珈琲」の自家焙煎豆。長沼の自慢の食材が創り出す朝の美味しいひとときだ。

海に囲まれたのどかな島、天草・樋合島。その海岸から1～2分の小高い丘に2024年9月にオープンした「TAYUTA」は、誰にも邪魔されず、誰の目も気にせずにひっそりとすごせる隠れ家のような宿だ。島全域が雲仙天草国立公園に指定されているため、建物は自然に溶け込む色調に抑えられ、切妻屋根など日本家屋の伝統と、時代に合わせたモダンさを融合したシンプルでシックなデザインだ。
ウェルカムドリンクで長距離移動の疲れを癒していると、目の前に広がる内海ならではの静かな海と島々の絶景が、あくせくするなと語りかけてくるようだ。源泉かけ流しの湯に身を委ねたあとは、渡り蟹、トラフグ、熟成クエ、黒アワビ、天草大王、船小屋牛など、旬を迎えた冬の食材を揃えたディナーが至福の時間へと誘ってくれる。
