アメリカのトランプ政権がICC＝国際刑事裁判所を制裁対象に指定したと発表したことを受けて、ICCの締約国会議の議長団が制裁の撤回を求める声明を出しました。

アメリカのトランプ政権はICCのトップを務める赤根智子所長らを制裁対象にしてきましたが、今月9日には、新たにICCそのものを制裁対象に指定したと発表しました。

これを受けて、ICCに加盟する125の国と地域のうち、日本を含む21か国による締約国会議の議長団は10日、声明を発表しました。

このなかで「前例のないほどの威圧的な措置の拡大は、裁判所とその職員による独立した司法機能を妨げようとする試みで遺憾だ」と非難しています。

その上で「国際正義の原則と司法の独立を堅持するICCやその職員を、支援していく決意を改めて表明する」として、ICCを支持していく姿勢を強調しています。

そしてアメリカに対して、赤根所長などへ科された制裁を含め、撤回するよう求めています。
