世界初、近づくだけで払える「UWB決済」実用化へ　JCBとりそな

JCBとりそなホールディングスは4日、UWB決済の事業化に向け、基本合意書を締結した。UWBは超広帯域無線通信技術の略称で、Wi-Fiと同程度の距離で通信できる次世代の無線技術。UWB決済の本格的な実用化に向けた活動は世界初となる。 UWB決済は、NFCやQRコード決済とは異なり、数十メートル離れた位置でもデバイスの正確な位置特定や高速通信が可能とされる。これにより、スマートフォンなどを取り出さずに支払いできるハンズフリー決済など、新たな購買体験の実現を目指す。 また、レジ袋の有無や決済手段などを事前に登録することで、レジでのやり取りが不要となる。店舗側では、省人化やコミュニケーション負荷の軽減に加え、購買データを活用したクーポン配信や優遇価格の提示など、マーケティングへの活用も見込む。 両社は2024年1月よりスマートフォン操作が不要な「タッチしないタッチ決済」プロジェクトを進めてきた。JCBは24年5月にUWB通信などを用いた新たな購買体験を実現する「近づいてチェック」プロジェクトを始動し、実際にUWB通信などを用いて動くアプリと店舗レジ機材の基準モデルを開発。ユーザーテストを開始している。 JCBが協業先と行なった調査では、購買時の商品受け渡しや決済手段の選択、決済処理がユーザーのストレスになっていることが分かった。また、店舗側でもレジ業務が負担や接客トラブルの一因になっているという。一方、日本ではUWB対応スマートフォンの普及が進んでおり、実装に向けた環境が整いつつあるとする。 こうした背景を踏まえ、両社は26年度に技術実証を開始する。りそなグループの金融データや顧客基盤、UI/UXの知見と、JCBの決済ノウハウや技術、決済ネットワークを組み合わせ、国内外のパートナーと連携しながら、UWBを活用した新たな決済体験や店舗向けソリューションの提供を進める。将来的には27年度の小規模商用化、28年度の本格事業化を目指す。
