熊本 球磨地方 特産の「春メロン」の出発式
熊本県の球磨地方で、この時期に収穫される「春メロン」の出荷が始まっています。
球磨地方では、121戸の農家がアンデスやプリンス、それにホームランの3品種のメロンを栽培していて、4月8日から出荷が始まりました。
17日は、3品種あわせて6トンほどが選果場に持ち込まれ、表面に傷がないか目で確認して、大きさごとに選別して専用の箱に詰める作業が行われました。
このあと、関係者50人余りが参加して出発式が行われ、テープカットのあと、関東方面に向かうトラックを拍手で送り出しました。
JAくまメロン部会の荒川修一部会長は「3月は天候不順もあって心配しましたが、その後回復して順調に生育しました。皆様に味わってほしいです」と話していました。
「春メロン」の出荷は4月末にピークを迎え、5月25日ごろまで続く予定だということです。
