トランプ氏のSNS停止裁判 グーグル親会社36億円余支払いで和解
アメリカのトランプ大統領が4年前、自らのSNSのアカウントが停止されたことを不服として、グーグル傘下の「YouTube」を訴えた裁判で、会社側は和解のために日本円にして36億円あまりを支払うことで合意しました。
この裁判は、2021年1月の連邦議会への乱入事件を受けてSNSのアカウントを停止されていたトランプ氏が、この年の7月、SNSの運営会社側が言論を封殺していると主張して、グーグル傘下の「YouTube」などを訴えたものです。
29日に裁判所に提出された資料によりますと、双方は和解に合意し、グーグルの親会社である「アルファベット」が2450万ドル、日本円にして36億円あまりをトランプ大統領側に支払うということです。
和解金のほとんどはホワイトハウスの大広間の整備にあてられるということです。
この裁判で同様に訴えられていた当時のフェイスブック、現在のメタや、旧ツイッターのXもすでに和解金を支払うことで合意していて、トランプ大統領とIT大手の間で関係改善をはかる動きが相次いでいます。
アメリカの有力紙、ウォール・ストリート・ジャーナルは、「去年の大統領選挙で勝利して以来、トランプ氏はIT大手やメディアを相手取った訴訟で8000万ドル以上の和解金を得ている」と伝えています。
