Google翻訳20周年、10億人が使うサービスに　新機能は「発音練習」

Googleは28日(米国時間)、「Google 翻訳」が20周年を迎えたと発表した。あわせて、新機能として、「発音練習(pronunciation practice)」を開始する。まずは米国とインドで、英語、スペイン語、ヒンディー語で利用可能となる。 発音練習は、Android版のGoogle翻訳アプリで発音の練習ができる機能。表示された外国語をユーザーが読み上げると、Google 翻訳アプリが話し声を分析。お手本を再生したり、フィードバックや評価が行なわれ、言語学習に役立てられる。 5️⃣ We just launched one of our most requested features: pronunciation practice, which uses AI to analyze your speech and provide instant feedback on your delivery. Now available in the Translate app on Android in the U.S and India, starting with English, Spanish and Hindi. pic.twitter.com/6jsH5qoY4o — Google (@Google) April 28, 2026 2006年の登場から20年が経過し、Google 翻訳は絶滅の危機にある言語や先住民族の言語を含め、約250の言語と6万以上の言語ペアに対応。 毎月10億人以上が利用し、毎月約1兆語が翻訳されているという(翻訳、検索、レンズ、囲って検索含む)。 4月にはヘッドフォンを使って、パーソナル通訳のようにGoogle 翻訳を利用できる「ライブ翻訳」も開始している。 なお、「翻訳」で最もよく使われる言語ペアは英語からスペイン語。他にも英語からインドネシア語、ポルトガル語、アラビア語、トルコ語への翻訳が多いという。また、英語からヒンディー語、ベンガル語、マラヤーラム語という3つのインドの言語への翻訳も利用されている。
