大船渡山林火災「樹冠火」延焼拡大要因の1つか 林野庁と県調査
ことし2月末に発生した岩手県大船渡市の山林火災で、被害が大きかった地区では木の枝や葉全体が燃える「樹冠火」と言われる火災が大規模に発生し、延焼が拡大した要因の1つになったとみられることが、林野庁と岩手県の調査で分かりました。
林野庁と岩手県は、3月12日にヘリコプターによる上空からの調査を行い、4月16日、その結果について説明しました。
調査で撮影された三陸町綾里の小路地区の画像では、木全体が黒く焼け焦げ、谷筋から斜面の上側に向けて火が駆け上った様子が確認され、「樹冠火」と言われる火災が大規模に発生したとみられるということです。
林野庁によりますと、「樹冠火」は木の上の部分にある枝や葉全体が燃える森林火災で、下草や落ち葉などが燃える地表面の火災に比べ、火の粉が強風の影響を受けて、より遠くまで飛びやすくなり、延焼が拡大した要因の1つになったとみられるということです。
一方、地表や樹木の根元付近の焼損範囲については分かっておらず、林野庁は今後、さらに被害の状況を調べるということです。
林野庁東北森林管理局計画保全部の門脇裕樹部長は「今回の山林火災で、地元からは森林の早期復旧を求める要望や、大雨の際の土砂流出への懸念が寄せられている。財政支援だけでなく、技術的な支援も行っていきたい」と話していました。
