NHKの会長や日銀の理事を務めた稲葉延雄氏が10月6日、誤えん性肺炎のため、都内の病院で亡くなりました。75歳でした。

稲葉氏は静岡県出身で、昭和49年に日銀に入行し、考査局長や理事を務めた後、リコーの取締役専務執行役員や取締役会議長を歴任しました。

在任中は、受信料の値下げにともなって収入が大幅に減少する中、コンテンツの質と量の維持を図りつつ、経費削減による構造の改革を行ったほか、インターネットを通じた番組や番組関連情報の配信を必須業務とする改革をめぐり、体制の整備や運用方針の策定などに力を尽くしました。

稲葉氏は令和7年5月、肺がんであることを公表し、治療を続けながら職務にあたり、令和8年1月の退任前の会見では「昨年10月からのネット必須業務化とそれに伴うNHKONEのスタートは、NHKにとっては歴史的で大変意義深い一歩になったのではないかと感じている。今後も皆さんにさすがはNHKだと満足していただけるような番組やコンテンツを提供することによって、日本や世界の健全な民主主義の発展に貢献し続けていってほしいと心から願っている」と話していました。
