アメリカのトランプ政権がICC＝国際刑事裁判所のトップを務める赤根智子所長らを制裁対象とする中、超党派の議員連盟は3日、ICCの本部があるオランダに向けて出発しました。現地で赤根所長と面会し、直面する課題などについて意見を交わすことにしています。

「人権外交を超党派で考える議員連盟」の共同会長を務める自民党の中谷前防衛大臣と国民民主党の舟山参議院議員会長らは3日午後、ICCの本部が置かれているオランダ・ハーグに向けて成田空港を出発しました。

日本時間の7日にも赤根所長と面会し、直面する課題などについて意見を交わすことにしています。

アメリカのトランプ政権が赤根所長らを制裁対象とする中、議員連盟は先月、「国際司法の歴史に例のない暴挙だ」と非難し、日本政府に対し、制裁撤回に向けた働きかけやICCへの支持継続を求める声明をとりまとめていて、今回の面会を通じてICCの活動を後押ししたい考えです。

出発に先立ち、中谷氏はNHKの取材に対し「制裁を受けて不便がないか、本来の活動ができているか確認したい。世界の秩序を安定させ、平和を守る活動が実際にできるよう、日本が中心的な役割を果たさなければならない」と述べました。
