熊本県は、7月31日午後7時時点で、今回の地震で県内では災害との関連を調査している2人を含めて36人が死亡し、9500人余りが避難していることなどを発表しました。

住宅被害は、全壊が182棟、大規模半壊が20棟、半壊が225棟、一部破損が1032棟、被害を受けているものの程度は調査中が67棟で、あわせて1526棟に被害が確認されたということです。

ただ、八代市や宇城市など揺れが強かった地域では、まだ調査が十分に進められていないため、今後被害が大きく増えるおそれがあるということです。

また、断水も続いていて、31日午後2時時点のまとめで、あわせておよそ7万9100戸が断水しています。
