日本郵便は、切手の消印に使用する「通信日付印」の時間帯表示廃止に向けた試行を、10月1日から全国26の郵便局で実施する。切手の消印には「通信日付印」を使用し、引き受けた「年月日・時間帯」を表示しているが、今後、時間帯表示の廃止を予定している。廃止に先立ち、時間帯表示廃止に伴う業務運営や利用者への影響などを検証するため、10月1日から27年3月31日まで、時間帯表示を除いた通信日付印の印影による消印を試行実施する。集配機能を有する試行対象の郵便局においては、同局の窓口で引き受けた郵便物などや、同局が受け持つエリア内の郵便ポストに差し出された郵便物、同エリア内に位置する窓口機能のみの郵便局に差し出された一部の郵便物も試行の対象となる。窓口機能のみの試行対象の郵便局においては、同局の窓口で引き受けた郵便物などが試行の対象となる。押印のルール上、対象郵便局でも試行対象外となる場合もある。時間帯表示が必要な場合は、対象郵便局以外の郵便局を利用するか、全ての郵便局で取り扱っている「引受時刻証明」サービスを利用する必要がある。なお、従来から引受時間帯を表示しない通信日付印も併せて使用しているため、試行する郵便局以外で差し出された郵便物にも、時間帯を表示しない通信日付印を使用する場合がある。
