中国バイドゥの次世代EV「ROBO-01」が秘めた可能性
中国の大手テック企業のバイドゥ（百度）が手がけた電気自動車（EV）のプロトタイプが、このほど発表された。大手自動車メーカーの吉利汽車（ジーリー）と共同で2021年に設立した集度汽車（ジードゥ）による初の電気自動車（EV）「ROBO-01」だ。

自動運転の機能を備えるというROBO-01は、これまでにバイドゥが培ってきた人工知能（AI）の技術と、吉利汽車の生産技術を融合させている。
デザインからして斬新だ。フロントドアはバタフライ式で、ドアハンドルやウインカーレバーなどの物理的な操作部がない。車内には巨大な横長のディスプレイと、ヨークステアリング（U字型ハンドル）が目を引く。シートは宇宙船をイメージしたものだという。
また、自動運転用にレーザー光によるセンサー「LiDAR（ライダー）」2基を搭載しており、走行時には車体からポップアップする。このLiDARは、衝突の可能性を検知すると収納される仕組みだという。自動運転技術は、すでに中国でテスト走行が進む自動運転タクシー「Apollo Go」の技術を応用した高度なものだと、バイドゥは説明している。
フロントライトはピクセル式のLEDヘッドライトで、絵文字も表示可能。車外の音声認識機能と組み合わせることで、「人とクルマと環境の自然なコミュニケーションを実現する」と謳っている。こうした一連のテクノロジーについてジードゥの最高経営責任者（CEO）の夏一平（シァ・イーピン）は、「インテリジェントカー3.0の時代が到来した」と言う。
あくまでコンセプトではあるが、量産モデルはコンセプトカーと9割方は同じになるという。限定モデルの発売を2022年秋に予定しており、本格的な量産は23年になる。価格は30，000ドル（約400万円）を超える見通しだ。
