ピエール・マエオ──蚤の市の達人になるためのオールスター・ガイド
『GQ』は世界で活躍する4人のデザイナーの、お気に入りの蚤の市巡りに同行させてもらった。今回はOfficine Généraleのピエール・マエオ。

Officine Généraleの創設者であるピエール・マエオは、35年以上前、悪名高いサン・トゥアンの蚤の市に初めて行ったときのことを鮮明に覚えている。姉の当時のボーイフレンドがヴィンテージのデニムやレザーコート、リーバイスの“ビッグ E”のジャケットを売る店を開いていたのだ。
以来、彼は東京からパサデナまで足を運ぶ蚤の市マニアになったが、いつも戻ってくるのは、東京ドーム約1.5個分の敷地に1700もの店が出る世界最大級のサン・トゥアンの蚤の市だ。マエオは主に自分の店に置く家具を見つけるために訪れ（衣料品の品揃えはアメリカや日本のほうが良いらしい）、あとは人間観察に徹する。「日曜日には、楽しい光景が見られます。エディ（・スリマン）やクリス・ヴァン・アッシュが歩いていたり、有名な俳優や歌手が通り過ぎたり。コーヒーを飲んだり、ランチをしたり、友達に会ったりもできますよ」
