開発が難航している小型ロケット「イプシロンS」の2段目の燃焼試験が23日午前、鹿児島県の種子島宇宙センターで行われ、JAXA＝宇宙航空研究開発機構によりますと、およそ2分間の燃焼を終え、試験は無事終了したということです。

日本の新たな主力ロケットの1つとして開発中の小型ロケット「イプシロンS」は、ロケットの2段目の燃焼試験と再試験で爆発が相次いだことから、JAXAは開発計画を見直し、4年前に役目を終えた従来のイプシロンロケットの2段目を改めて製造して使うことを決めています。

23日はこの2段目の燃焼試験が種子島宇宙センターで行われ、午前9時に点火されると、ごう音とともに大量の燃焼ガスが立ちのぼりました。

JAXAによりますと、およそ2分間の燃焼を終え、試験は無事終了したということです。

JAXAは試験で得られたデータを詳しく分析し、2段目の性能などに問題がなければ、「イプシロンS」の今年度中の打ち上げに向けて準備を進めることにしています。
