マグサイサイ賞 インドで女性への学習支援行うNPOなど選ばれる
「アジアのノーベル賞」とも呼ばれるマグサイサイ賞に、ことしはインドで女性たちへの学習支援を行うNPOなどが選ばれました。
「アジアのノーベル賞」とも呼ばれるマグサイサイ賞は、毎年アジアの平和や発展に尽くした個人や団体に贈られ、去年は平和や環境の問題をテーマに数多くのアニメーション映画を手がけてきた宮崎駿監督が受賞しました。
賞を主催するフィリピンの財団は31日、ことしの受賞者として一つの団体と個人2人を発表しました。
このうちインドで活動するNPOは教育を受けられていない女性たちへの学習支援を行っていて、女性たちが読み書きを通してみずからの可能性を広げることができる取り組みだと評価されました。
このほかインド洋の島国モルディブで、プラスチックによる海洋汚染などの問題に取り組んでいる環境活動家の女性や、フィリピンで、貧困層やホームレスへの支援に尽力してきた神父が選ばれました。
授賞式はことし11月にマニラで行われます。
