中央アフリカ西部のカメルーンとの国境付近にある金の鉱山で、8月18日、崩落事故が発生しました。

AP通信が配信した鉱山の映像には、斜面の下にいる多くの人たちの方向へ、土砂が流れ込む様子が写されています。

また、複数の人の行方がわからなくなっているということで、救助活動が続けられています。

地元の捜査当局は、崩落の原因を調べるとともに、現場の責任者の特定を進めているということです。

AP通信は、中央アフリカでは小規模な鉱山での採掘に、数千人が従事しているものの、十分な安全対策はとられておらず、しばしば死亡事故につながっていると伝えています。
