「のぞみ」は25日(金)から全席指定 GW期間中
東海道・山陽新幹線「のぞみ」は、ゴールデンウィーク期間の4月25日(金)から5月6日(火)まで全席指定席での運行となります。「のぞみ」以外の「ひかり」「こだま」「みずほ」「さくら」には、通常通り自由席が設定されます。

対象区間は東海道・山陽新幹線の東京～博多間です。期間中は、新幹線定期券「FREX・FREXパル」を含む、自由席に限り乗車できるきっぷ(自由席特急券等)では、のぞみ号で座ることはできません。ただし、普通車のデッキ等を立席で利用する場合に限り、のぞみ号に乗車できます。
エクスプレス予約、スマートEXでは、空席情報を確認しながら予約可能です。空席状況だけを知りたい場合は「JRサイバーステーション」で確認できます。
JR東海、JR西日本ともに、東海道・山陽新幹線の予約のピーク日は、下りが5月3日(土)、上りが5月6日(火)としています(4月10日発表)。一方、GW後の5月7日、8日は「閑散期」価格になっています。
そのほかJR東海は、4月26日(土)、27日(日)、29日(火)、5月2日(金)～6日(火)の間、東京～新大阪間を運転する合計46本の「のぞみ」号にて、「お子さま連れ車両」を1両設定して運行します。
なお、東海道・山陽・九州・西九州新幹線では、3辺合計160cm超の大きな荷物(「特大荷物」)を持ち込む乗客に対して、「特大荷物スペースつき座席」または「特大荷物コーナーつき座席」を予約するよう呼び掛けています。予約にあたる追加料金は発生しません。事前予約せず特大荷物を持ち込んだ場合、1,000円の持込手数料が設定されています。
予約していない人が要予約スペースに荷物を置いてしまい、乗務員が持ち主を探すというシーンを見かけることもあります。忙しいシーズンの乗務員に手間を掛けさせないためにも、要予約の場所を認識しておきましょう。
スポーツ用品・楽器・車いす・ベビーカー等については、サイズに関わらず事前の予約は不要です。また新幹線では、3辺合計160cm以下の場合は荷物棚に概ね収納できるとしています。
