北海道新幹線 開業10年 計画の遅れや利用客の伸び悩みなど課題
本州と北海道をむすぶ北海道新幹線は26日、開業から10年となりました。札幌までの早期延伸を求める声もある一方で計画の遅れや利用客の伸び悩みなど課題を抱えています。
北海道新幹線は、新函館北斗と新青森の間で開業して、26日で10年となり、新函館北斗駅では利用者からさまざまな声が聞かれました。
このうち、仕事で青森に向かうという50代の女性は「感慨深く思いました。札幌まで早く行けるようになってほしいです」と話していました。
札幌から名古屋に向かうという夫婦は「札幌まで延伸しても飛行機のほうが早いので今後、新幹線がどう利用されていくのかは疑問です」と話していました。
北海道新幹線の開業で本州からビジネスや観光客の利用の増加が見込まれましたが、新函館北斗駅の利用者は、開業時の3分の1ほどに減少し、新青森駅との区間では年間100億円以上の赤字が続いています。
また、札幌までの延伸はトンネル工事の難航で完成時期が2030年度末から2038年度末以降へと大きくずれ込み資材価格の高騰などもあって、事業費も、当初の2.3兆円から、さらに、最大1.2兆円増える見通しとなっています。
建設主体の鉄道・運輸機構の藤田耕三理事長は「延伸が大幅に遅れることは大変重く受け止めている。札幌まで開業して初めて大きな効果が生じるという思いでいるので、費用についても丁寧に説明をしながら、関係する方々に理解をいただきたいと思っている」と話しています。
