西武 西口文也 新監督 最下位からの巻き返しに向け始動
プロ野球、西武は15日から秋季練習が始まり、西口文也新監督は野手陣を中心に選手とコミュニケーションを取り最下位からの巻き返しに向けて始動しました。
今シーズン、球団史上ワーストの91敗を喫して最下位となった西武は、シーズン最終戦から5日間の休養をはさみ15日から秋季練習を始めました。
ベルーナドーム横の2軍の本拠地の球場で行われた練習には、2軍監督から昇格して新たに就任した西口監督をはじめ、宮崎で行われている教育リーグ「フェニックスリーグ」に参加している若手以外の選手やコーチが参加しました。
西口新監督は全体のウォーミングアップのあと野手陣の練習に足を運び、キャプテンの源田壮亮選手にみずから話しかけるなど積極的にコミュニケーションを取っていました。
練習はおよそ2時間半行われ、今シーズンのチーム打率が2割1分2厘とパ・リーグの歴代最低となった野手陣は、15日は守備練習は行わずに西口新監督が見守る中、ロングティーを行うなどしてバットを振り込んでいました。
西口新監督は練習後「監督になった実感はきょうわいた。一軍の選手をちゃんと見たのはきょうが初めてなので、まずはどれだけ動けているかを見ていきたいと思っている。ざっくばらんにいろいろな話をすることで、選手のことをより理解しやすいと思うので、そこは大事にしていきたい」と話していました。
