日本の美術館では初！Mr.、11年ぶりの国内個展が開催 ──『Mr.の個展：いつかある晴れた日に、きっとまた会えるでしょう。』
村上隆率いるカイカイキキ所属の現代アーティスト、Mr.による個展が福岡アジア美術館で開催される。
Mr.は村上隆が提唱する、日本の伝統的絵画の平面性と現代のアニメやマンガの視覚表現を接続することで、日本の視覚文化の連続性を主張する芸術運動である「スーパーフラット」の重要な担い手のひとり。漫画やアニメ、オタク文化にヤンキーやファストカルチャーをミックスし、「かわいい」や「萌え」の感覚を現代アートに昇華させた独自の表現で、国内外で高い評価を得てきた。
フェニックスアートミュージアム（アメリカ）やギメ東洋美術館（フランス）など海外で精力的に作品を発表し続けてきた彼にとって、11年ぶりの国内個展であり、日本の美術館では初めての大規模個展となる。新作を含む絵画や彫刻から、インスタレーション、映像まで約80点が展示され、トヨタ・ソアラを改造した「ヤンキー痛車」の新作初公開や、大規模立体作品《変身》の国内初展示など、Mr.の作品とその世界観を日本であますことなく紹介する貴重な機会となる。
