これは何……？謎の形のタオルアートにさまざまな考察→サンリオの“あのキャラ”を指摘する声も
英語圏で人気のネット掲示板Redditのスレッド「What Is It（これって何？）」に、「クルーズ船のタオルアート。何の動物か見当がつかない」という投稿があった。正解が分からない投稿主がスレッドで意見を募ったところ、さまざまな考察が寄せられた。

客室内で撮影された1枚の写真。ベッドに置かれたタオルは、なにやら動物のような形をしている。くるくると巻いたタオル4本の上に、胴体や顔のようにも見える丸みを帯びた形のタオルが置かれている。青い点のようなものも2つある。
タオルアートは、ホテルやクルーズ船などで、客へのサプライズやおもてなしの一環として行われ、喜びや感動を与える目的がある。白鳥やウサギなどがよく見かけるデザインだが、この作品は投稿者や多くのユーザーを惑わせたようだ。
スレッドには、1万3000件以上のリアクションと2500件近いコメントが寄せられ、「白鳥じゃない？」「カニでは？」「多分ウサギだよ。掃除した人がタオルが崩れたことに気づかなかったのだろう」「深海魚のブロブフィッシュにしか見えない」など、さまざまな考察が上がった。
なかには、日本のアニメ作品にちなんだコメントもある。サンリオキャラクターの「シナモロールの失敗作？」という声や、スタジオジブリの『千と千尋の神隠し』から「おしら様？」というコメントがみられた。
スレッドが盛り上がるなか、投稿主はコメント欄で返信。投稿者本人がクルーズ船に乗ったのではなく、投稿主の母親が送ってきたものだと明かした上で、「違う角度からの写真があればよかったのに……」とつづった。
なお、投稿主は「何人かのユーザーがコメントで投稿した写真を見る限り、ウサギの失敗作の可能性が高いです」と結論づけている。
