AirbnbとJTB、空き家の"ホームシェアリング"推進
民泊/宿泊予約プラットフォームのAirbnb(エアビーアンドビー)はJTBと連携し、空き家を活用した地方地域の受入環境整備を全国規模で強化する。
近年、多くの地方自治体で、世界に誇る観光資源がありながら、周辺地域の宿泊環境が不足するなどの課題に直面しているものの、全国では800万戸を超える「空き家」の利活用についても深刻な問題になっている。
両社は、こうした課題を解決するため、地方地域における宿泊施設の「受け入れ環境整備」を推進。地域事業者との共創などを展開する。
具体的には、両社がこれまで培ってきた地域交流のスキル・ノウハウを活かし、地域資源を活用した体験型観光プログラムの開発や、観光資源の再評価を通じた新しい観光モデルの構築を支援。
全国の複数地域を対象に、地域住民や関係者を対象とした年間計10回程度のワークショップも実施し、地域ごとの課題に応じた解決策を共創する。
また、ホームシェアリングを広く普及するため、宿泊施設を提供する側(ホスト)になるための具体的な事例(空き家を宿泊施設に転用したモデルケース等)を共有し、地域事業者が自らのビジネスをスタートできる環境を整える。
これらを実現するため、2028年までに「新たな受け入れ環境整備」を展開する地域として100地域を目標とし活動。空き家問題や宿泊環境体制整備だけでなく、JTBとAirbnbそれぞれが主体となり各地域創生のプロジェクトにも取り組む。
特に東日本地域を注力地域とし、地域と共に創る持続可能なインフラ整備に取り組むことで、「地域へのホームシェアリングムーブメント」を起こし、新たな雇用創出・移住定住を拡大しながら、地域全体の活性化に貢献することを目指す。
