流通大手のイオンは、熊本県宇城市にあるショッピングセンター「イオンモール宇城」で、店を訪れていた男性客が地震で崩れた天井の下敷きとなって死亡したことが確認されたと発表しました。

イオンによりますと、このショッピングセンターでは地震直後、従業員が来店客を屋外へ避難誘導したあと、館内を見回って残っている人がいないことを確認し、従業員も避難したということです。

先月31日に改めて警察とともに館内の安全確認を行ったところ、天井の下敷きとなっている男性を発見し、病院に搬送されましたが、2日、搬送先で死亡が確認されたということです。

イオンは、「館内でお客さまがお亡くなりになったことを重く受け止めており、ご遺族の皆様に深くおわび申し上げます」とコメントしています。

イオンが運営する店舗では、熊本県嘉島町の「イオンモール熊本」で爆発が起きていて、従業員7人が死亡しています。
