“海のチーズ”岩がき出荷本格化「濃厚さ味わって」熊本
熊本県の天草 苓北町で、大ぶりの身と濃厚な味わいが特徴の岩がきの出荷が本格化しています。
「夏がき」とも呼ばれる岩がきは、春から夏にかけて旬を迎え、苓北町では「天草天領岩かき」というブランド名で出荷されています。
町内にある水産会社の作業場では、紫外線で殺菌した海水に16時間以上ひたし、生で食べられる状態にした岩がきを、従業員が手際よく箱詰めしていました。
岩がきは苓北町の沖合で4年かけて育てられ、1つの重さは平均的なもので300グラムから400グラムほどです。
ひとくちでは食べきれないほどのボリュームと、「海のチーズ」とも言われるほどクリーミーで濃厚な味わいが特徴です。
水産会社の取締役の福島剛士さんは「身の入りがよいかきができています。ぜひ生で食べていただいて、濃厚さを味わってほしいと思います」と話していました。
苓北町の岩がきの出荷は8月上旬まで続き、関西や九州方面を中心に例年並みのおよそ50トンの出荷を見込んでいるということです。
