地震の被害を受ける熊本県の出身で大リーグ、ホワイトソックスの村上宗隆選手が被災地を支援するためのチャリティープロジェクトを立ち上げることになりました。

熊本市出身の村上選手は、九州学院高校の2年生だった2016年に熊本地震を経験し、プロ入り後はホームランの本数に応じて熊本城の復興に寄付するなど地元への支援を続けてきました。

復興途中で再び熊本で発生した大地震を受け、村上選手は現在行っている別のチャリティー活動の枠組みで自らデザインに関わったオリジナルの帽子を販売し、販売収益のすべてを義援金として熊本県に寄付することになりました。

帽子には熊本の頭文字をとった「Kmmt」の文字がハートマークとともにデザインされ、8月31日までの期間限定で販売されます。

村上選手は「今回の地震を受けて自分に出来ることを考え、個人としての寄付に加えて多くの方と一緒に熊本を応援できる形を作りたいと思いました。一日でも早く安心して過ごせる日常を取り戻せることを心から願っております」とコメントしています。
