6月20日、フォルクスワーゲン ジャパンは、新型「ID. Buzz(アイディー バズ)」の日本仕様を発表した。
新型フォルクスワーゲンID. Buzzは、フォルクスワーゲン「Type 2(タイプ ツー)」のヘリテージを継承しながら、新たなフォルクスワーゲンのブランドアイコンとなるべく開発された唯一無二のフル電動ミニバンだ。
1950年に量産を開始したType 2は、「ビートル」の技術に加えて、強化シャシーを採用し、ドイツ国内外で多くの需要を生み出した。日本においても“ワーゲンバス”の愛称で愛され続けている。
今回登場した新型フォルクスワーゲンID. Buzzは、コンセプトカーが登場した2017年から、発売に向けて大きな期待が寄せられていた。
新型フォルクスワーゲンID. Buzzは、ドイツ ハノーバーにあるフォルクスワーゲン商用車部門の工場で生産される。現時点において、日本市場で購入できる唯一の多人数乗車が可能なミニバンタイプの電気自動車だ。
新型フォルクスワーゲンID. Buzzのエクステリアは、Type 2を彷彿とさせる個性的なデザインだ。
新型フォルクスワーゲンID. Buzzは、ショートオーバーハングのプロポーションやフロントフェイスに冠された特大のVWロゴ、現代風にアレンジされたクラシックなスライディング・ウインドウなどが目をひく。
ツートンカラーの色分けのラインにもなっているLED ヘッドライトの間にV字型のフロントパネルを備えた象徴的なフロントフェイスは、 “ワーゲンバス”のデザインをオマージュしたものだ。
新型フォルクスワーゲンID. Buzzのシート配列は、2-2-2のレイアウトを採用し2列目センターをウォークスルーとした6人乗りノーマルホイールベース仕様(NWB)と、2-3-2のレイアウトでホイールベースを約250mm伸長した7人乗りロングホイールベース仕様(LWB)の2種類を用意。
ロングホイールベースの荷室積載量は最大2469Lで、脱着可能な3列目シートにより、様々なアレンジが可能だ。
新型フォルクスワーゲンID. Buzzのパワー・スライドドア/テールゲートには、イージー・オープン＆クローズ機能も搭載。両手がふさがった状態でもドアの開閉が可能となり、乗員の乗り降りや荷物の出し入れを容易にする。
