「バーチャルISS」で宇宙ロボット操作 実空間との違い検証
スペースデータとKDDIはJAXAと連携して開発した「バーチャル国際宇宙ステーション(バーチャルISS)」内でロボットを動作させる実証を4月～10月の期間に行なう。

実証では、ISSで稼働するJAXAの宇宙ロボット「Int-Ball2」を操作するコマンドを使って、バーチャルISS内のロボットを動作させる技術を開発。バーチャルISS内に宇宙ロボットの動作を再現し、本物のISS内の宇宙ロボットを同様のコマンドで操作した際の動作と比較する。
実際のISS内の宇宙ロボットから取得した映像や重力などの物理環境データを基に、本技術の精度とバーチャルISSの再現率向上を図ることで、ISSなどの宇宙機やロボットの設計・開発段階において、バーチャルISSでの多角的な検証を可能にする。今後は、開発コストの削減や、ロボット活用による宇宙ステーション運用の効率化にもつなげていく。
「バーチャルISS」は、ISSの高精度な三次元空間情報と、物理環境をデジタル上に再現したISSのデジタルツイン環境。ゲームユーザーや教育での利用を想定し、PCゲームプラットフォーム「Steam」で無償公開している。
「Int-Ball2」は、ISSで活動する宇宙飛行士を支援する船内ドローン。地上の管制官の操作によりISS内を飛び回り、写真や動画の撮影を宇宙飛行士の代わりに行なうなどの作業が可能。
