新型ホンダ アコードe:HEV Honda SENSING 360＋に迫る!!! “プラス40万円”の価値とは？
ホンダの「アコード」に追加された「e:HEV Honda SENSING 360＋」に、大谷達也が乗った！ ホンダ量販モデル初のハンズオフ機能に迫る。

ホンダの全方位安全運転支援システム「Honda SENSING 360（ホンダ・センシング360）」がさらに進化し、「Honda SENSING 360＋（ホンダ・センシング360＋）」となってアコードに搭載された。
同社の4輪車に幅広く採用されている安全運転支援システム「ホンダ・センシング」はフロントカメラ、そしてボディーの前後に6台ずつ搭載した超音波センサーによって車両の周囲の状況を見極め、ドライバーの運転を支援する。
その大まかな機能は他メーカーが開発した安全運転支援システムと大同小異ながら、より遠くまで見通す能力を備えていると同時に、システムの動作が滑らかな点を個人的には高く評価してきた。
この上位システムにあたるホンダ・センシング360は、ホンダ・センシングに追加する形でボディの四隅とフロントに計5基のレーダーを搭載。一般的な安全運転支援システムが苦手としていた、たとえば合流車両のように斜めから接近する車両も検知することで、より高い安全性を実現したシステムである。
このホンダ・センシング360は同社のフラッグシップモデルであるアコードに搭載されており、今後もホンダ・センシング360＋搭載の新型ホンダ アコードe:HEV Honda SENSING 360＋とともに併売される。
では、ホンダ・センシング360とホンダ・センシング360＋とでは、どんな違いがあるのか？
車両周辺の状況を検知するセンサーはホンダ・センシング360と同等。ただし、新型ホンダ アコードe:HEV Honda SENSING 360＋に搭載するホンダ・センシング360＋はこれに追加して高精度地図データを搭載した点が大きく異なる。
新型ホンダ アコードe:HEV Honda SENSING 360＋の高精度地図データは、通常のナビゲーション用地図データにはない車線の情報などを収録。ホンダ・センシング360＋では、これと衛星を用いた測位情報などを組み合わせ、車両が車線内のどこを走っているかまで詳しく検出し、より緻密なステアリングアシストを可能としている。
これにより新型ホンダ アコードe:HEV Honda SENSING 360＋が実現できたのはハンズオフ機能、すなわちドライバーがステアリングから手を放しても車線内を走行し続ける機能である。ただし、ハンズオフ機能が使えるのは高速道路と自動車専用道路のみ。すなわち、歩行者や自転車がいない道だけとなる。
ハンズオフ機能を持つ四輪車は他メーカーからも発売されているが、ホンダ・センシング360＋搭載モデルはベースグレードとの価格差がおよそ40万円に抑えられているほか、最高で135km/hまでこの機能が使える点に大きな特徴がある。一般的にいって、高精度地図データを搭載したモデルはベースグレードとの価格差がより大きくなることが多いほか、ハンズオフ機能が動作できる範囲も大半は50〜60km/hまでに限られているなどの弱点がある。つまり、ホンダ・センシング360＋は“価格が手頃なのに高機能”だ。
たとえば、高速道路を巡航中、遅いクルマが目の前に現れた場合には、システムが追い越しを提案。ドライバーがこれを承認するとウィンカーの作動やステアリング操作などのアシストをしてくれる。
この場合、万一に備えてステアリングに手を添える必要があるものの、合計5基のレーダーが周囲の安全を確認し、危険が迫っていればドライバーに警告を発するので、引き続きシステムがドライバーをアシストしていることになる。
また、ナビゲーションに設定した目的地の最寄りインターチェンジが近づくと、左側車線に移動するように提案される。ここでもステアリングに手を添える必要があるけれど、レーダーによって周囲の状況がチェックされていることには変わりない。
