長崎 対馬で盗まれた仏像 13年ぶり韓国から寺に戻る
長崎県対馬市の寺から盗まれたあと、韓国で見つかった仏像が12日、13年ぶりに寺に戻り、地域の住民などが待ち望んでいた再会を果たしました。
2012年に対馬市の観音寺から盗まれ、韓国で見つかった長崎県の有形文化財「観世音菩薩坐像」は韓国での裁判をへて、観音寺に所有権があることが認められました。
その後、裁判で所有権を主張していた韓国のプソク寺側の求めに応じて、仏像は法要のために一時的に貸し出されていましたが、10日、プソク寺を訪れていた観音寺側の関係者に引き渡されました。
12日午前、観音寺では、13年ぶりに帰ってくる仏像を迎えようと地域の住民が見守る中、運送会社のトラックが到着し、仏像が入れられた木箱が運び込まれました。
そして午後には法要がおよそ40分間にわたって非公開で行われ、集まった檀家や県と市などの関係者合わせて30人余りが長年待ち望んでいた再会を果たしました。
観音寺の田中節竜住職は「仏像が戻ってきて安心するとともに、感慨深い気持ちです。やっと安寧が訪れたのかなと思っています」と話していました。
仏像は今後、市内にある対馬博物館で保管され、5月16日から特別公開されることになっています。
