2026年7月に左太ももの緊急手術を受けた大相撲の平幕、若隆景が、13日に初日を迎える秋場所を休場することになりました。

日本相撲協会は11日、秋場所の初日と2日目の取組を発表し、前頭12枚目の若隆景の取組は組まれず休場となりました。

31歳の若隆景は小結で臨んだ2026年5月の夏場所で2回目の優勝を果たしましたが、7月、左太ももの筋肉が腫れて神経などが圧迫される「コンパートメント症候群」で緊急手術を受けて名古屋場所を休場し、復帰に向けたリハビリを続けていました。

若隆景は9月1日の力士会に参加した際には、すでにまわしを締めて体を動かし始めたことを明かしたうえで「少しずつ前進している。しっかりリハビリして治したい」と話し、復帰できる時期は未定だとしていました。
