TOICA・SUGOCAがモバイル対応へ スマホ定期券も実現
JR西日本、JR東海、JR九州は、モバイルICOCAの仕組みを活用し、JR東海のTOICAエリアで2026年春以降、JR九州のSUGOCAエリアで2027年春以降からモバイルICサービスを提供する。これにより、スマートフォンで定期券の購入やチャージが可能となり、駅での手続きが不要になる。

モバイルICOCAはJR西日本が23年3月にサービスを開始し、25年2月末時点で利用者数は270万人を超えている。同社は、この仕組みを他の交通事業者にも展開し、モバイルICサービスの拡大を進める。
今回、新たにTOICA、SUGOCAエリアの定期券がモバイルICで利用可能となり、エリアをまたぐ移動の利便性が向上する。
これに伴い、対象となる定期券も拡充される。ICOCAエリアでは、2025年3月15日から中学生・高校生向けの通学定期券がモバイルICOCAで利用可能になり、TOICA、SUGOCAエリアでも26年春以降のモバイルICサービス開始と同時に対応する予定。
また、26年春には東海道・山陽新幹線や北陸新幹線(上越妙高駅～敦賀駅)で、新幹線定期券の「FREX」「FREXパル」がICOCAエリアで利用可能になり、27年春にはICエリア外の駅を含む定期券も導入予定。
モバイルICOCAでは、定期券の購入や払い戻し、チャージ、利用履歴の確認がスマートフォンで可能となる。支払いは登録したクレジットカードを通じて行なう。
