エアコン「試運転」もうやった？夏が来る前の今のうちに
ことしの夏も厳しい暑さが予想されています。
熱中症予防には「エアコン」の活用が欠かせませんが、国やメーカーなどで作る団体は、本格的に暑くなる前のこの時期にエアコンの「試運転」をするよう呼びかけています。
エアコンのプロに試運転のポイント、聞いてきました。

教えて！試運転の方法は
試運転について教えてくれたのは、大阪に本社がある大手空調メーカー「ダイキン」の鵜川結依さんです。

鵜川さんによると、試運転を始める前に、まずはコンセントを確認してほしいということです。
電源プラグがしっかり差し込まれているか、ホコリがたまっていないか、をチェックするそうです。しばらく使っておらずホコリがたまっていると、火災の原因になることもあるからです。
ステップ（1）冷房を「最低温度」でオン
電源を確認したらエアコンのスイッチを入れます。
運転モードは「冷房」に、「設定温度」は最低温度にします。
最低温度は、エアコンの機種によって異なりますが、16度から18度のものが多いそうです。
最低温度で運転するのは、この時期はまだ室温が高くないため、温度を低く設定しないと冷房が作動しないことがあるからです。
ステップ（2）10分後「冷たい風」確認して
そのまま10分程運転し、吹き出し口から冷たい空気が出ていることが確認できれば問題ありません。
また、エアコン本体の運転ランプなどが点滅していないかも確認してください。メーカーによって点滅するボタンや色は異なりますが、仮に点滅している場合は、異常が起きている可能性があります。
取り扱い説明書を見て、どのような異常が起きているか確認し、必要に応じて、販売店やメーカーの相談窓口に連絡してください。
ステップ（3）さらに30分後「水漏れ」「異音・異臭」ないか確認
さらに30分程度運転し、エアコンの吹き出し口などから水が漏れていないか確認してください。
通常、エアコンは30分ほど稼働すると、空気を冷やすための「熱交換器」という場所で水が発生し、配管を通して外に排水されます。そこに異常があると、吹き出し口などから水が漏れるということです。
また、異音や異臭がしないかも確認してください。
異常があった場合、エアコンを購入した量販店や、メーカーの相談窓口などに連絡してください。
メーカーによっては、ウェブサイトなどで、どんな故障が起きているかを簡易的に診断できるケースもあります。
問い合わせは夏に集中
取材したメーカーが、この時期の試運転を呼びかけているのは、夏になるとエアコン関連の問い合わせが増えるからです。例年、7月と8月に問い合わせが集中し、7月は4月の4倍に上るということです。
一方で、エアコンの試運転について、全国の4700人にインターネットで調査したところ、試運転を「知っている」人は72.2％に上った一方で、実際に「試運転をしたことがある」人は46.4％と半数以下だったということです。

「暑くなってからエアコンを使い、不具合に気付いて修理を依頼しても、他の人も同じように依頼をしている可能性があります。対応までに時間がかかることもあるので、安心して快適にエアコンを使うためにも、今の時期に試運転をしてほしいです」

夏来る前に「フィルター」掃除して
鵜川さんは、エアコンの試運転に合わせて、この時期に「しっかり掃除」を行ってほしいと呼びかけています。
エアコン前面のパネルを開けて「フィルター」を取り外し、ホコリを掃除機で吸ってきれいにします。
キッチンに近い場所では、油を吸い込んで汚れがこびりついていることもあるので、その場合は、台所用の中性洗剤を溶かしたぬるま湯で洗ってほしいということです。
洗ったフィルターは、しっかりと乾かしてから戻すことが大切です。
また、フィルターの掃除は、2週間に1回行うとエアコンの効きもよくなるということです。
「熱交換器」もチェックして
取り外したフィルターの奥にある「熱交換器」の汚れ具合も、目視で確認してください。
熱交換器は、アルミ製の薄い板が並んでいる部品で、吸い込んだ空気を冷やす役割があるため、ここが汚れていると、エアコンの効きが悪くなります。
ただ、自分で掃除しようとすると、手を切ってけがをしたり、アルミの板が折れ曲がって故障につながったりするので、汚れていると感じた時には、専門の業者に清掃を依頼してほしいということです。
室外機の周辺を片づけて
室外機の周辺もの片付けも大事です。室外機の前にゴミ袋や植木鉢などものを置いている場合には、この機会に片づけてください。
空気の通りが悪いと、よけいな電力を消費してしまうということです。
エアコンの「試運転」と「しっかり掃除」は、今からできる熱中症対策でもあります。
気温が上がってきた今のうちに、エアコンがちゃんと動作するのか確認をして、夏本番を迎えましょう。
