トランプ大統領は27日、記者団に対し、「金利は引き下げられるべきだ」などと主張しました。FRB＝連邦準備制度理事会が28日から開く金融政策を決める会合を前に、FRBに対して改めて利下げを行うよう圧力をかけた形です。

金融市場ではFRBが政策金利を据え置くとの見方が出る一方、イラン情勢を背景にインフレが再加速するリスクを抑え込むため3年ぶりの利上げに踏み切るとの観測も浮上しています。

こうした中、トランプ大統領は27日、記者団から「FRBがインフレ対策として利上げを行うと懸念しているか」と問われたのに対し、「金利は引き下げられるべきだ。アメリカの金利は世界で最も低くあるべきだ」などと主張しました。

また、みずからが指名したウォーシュ議長について、「彼は正しいことをしたいと考えている。彼が何をしたいのかはわかっている。ただ、おそらく好ましくない意図を持つ一部の参加者の同意が必要だ」などと述べました。
