Google検索に「AIモード」登場 “AI回答”さらに拡張へ
米Googleは、Google 検索の一部の結果に表示される「AIによる概要」について、使用するAIをGemini 2.0にアップグレードし、より難しい質問に対応できるようになったと発表した。米国で開始されている。また、検索結果ページで“AIの回答”を指定して表示できる「AIモード」も発表した。

「AIによる概要」(AI Overview)がGemini 2.0にアップグレードされたことで、コーディング、高度な数学、画像や音声と組み合わせた質問にも対応できるようになった。今後さらに機能が追加される予定。
Gemini 2.0の導入で、従来よりも高速で高品質な回答ができるとし、表示される頻度も上がる見込み。ログインなどが不要で、ティーンエイジャーも利用できることから、さらに多くの人が利用できるようになるとしている。
■ 検索の新しいモード「AIモード」
初期段階の実験的な機能として、検索の新しいモード「AIモード」(AI Mode)が導入される。Google One AI Premiumの加入者がまず招待される。
「AIモード」は、「AIによる概要」の機能を拡張したもので、AIによる回答をより求める場合に役立つ機能。通常、Google 検索の検索結果ページには「すべて」「ニュース」「画像」などのカテゴリータブが上部に並んでいるが(日本の場合。検索ワードにより変化する)、ここに「AI Mode」が追加され、このタブを指定することで、AIが回答する内容を集中的に表示できる。
「AIモード」は、さらなる探求、比較、推論を必要とする質問に特に役立つとする。従来なら複数回の検索を行なうような、あいまいな内容を含む質問にもAIが回答する。今後は、画像や動画を使用した視覚的な応答を含む、新しい機能とアップデートに取り組んでいく。
生成AIを開発する各社は、Web検索と組み合わせた機能も発表している。今回のGoogleの機能拡張は、アプリや独立したサービスページではなく、Web検索の結果ページにGemini 2.0など高度なAIによる回答を大胆に取り込んだもの。疑問や知識の探求の起点となるWeb検索を攻略しようとする各社の動きに対抗するものとみられる。
