トランプ大統領“パナマ・スエズ両運河 米船舶無料にすべき“
アメリカのトランプ大統領は、世界の物流を支えるパナマ運河とスエズ運河について、アメリカの船舶は軍用も商用も無料で通航できるようにすべきだという考えを示しました。
アメリカのトランプ大統領は26日、自身のSNSに、太平洋と大西洋をつなぐ中米のパナマ運河と、地中海と紅海をつなぐ中東のスエズ運河について、「アメリカの船舶は軍用も商用も無料で通航できるようにすべきだ」と投稿しました。
投稿では「2つの運河はアメリカなしでは存在しえなかった」などと主張し、ルビオ国務長官に対し直ちにこの問題に対処するよう指示したことを明らかにしました。
このうち、中国の影響力が強いとされるパナマ運河をめぐって、トランプ政権は「中国の影響下から取り戻す」と繰り返し主張しています。
このほかにもトランプ政権は、中国への関税措置とともに、今後アメリカの港に寄港する中国船舶などを対象にした手数料を徴収する方針を示していて、アメリカメディアのブルームバーグは、世界の造船市場で支配的な地位を占める中国の商船と造船業への圧力を通じて、アメリカの造船業を復活させるねらいがあると指摘しています。
