アメリカのトランプ大統領は、週明けにもICE＝移民税関捜査局の職員を空港に投入する方針を明らかにしました。与野党の対立で一部の予算措置が失効したことに伴い保安検査職員が不足するなかでの動きですが、強硬な取り締りに伴う混乱も懸念されていて、民主党に予算案に賛成するよう圧力をかけたかたちです。

アメリカでは、今年1月に中西部ミネソタ州で連邦職員が発砲し、市民2人が死亡した事件を受けて、連邦議会で野党・民主党などが政府の予算案に反対し、国土安全保障省の予算措置が失効しています。

これにより空港の保安検査職員の多くが無給で働くことになり、現地メディアは人手不足が原因で検査に長い列ができていると伝えています。

トランプ大統領は21日、SNSで民主党の対応を批判した上で、予算案に賛成しなければ、週明けにもICE＝移民税関捜査局を空港に投入すると明らかにしました。

そのうえで「不法移民の即時逮捕など、彼らには誰も見たことがない保安対策を行わせる」としています。

ICEをめぐっては、取り締り手法が強硬的だとする批判もあることから混乱が懸念されていて、トランプ大統領としては民主党に予算案に賛成するよう圧力をかけたかたちです。
