朝日と日経、AI検索のPerplexityを提訴 44億円請求
朝日新聞社と日本経済新聞社は、生成AI企業の米Perplexity AIを著作権侵害および不正競争行為で東京地方裁判所に共同提訴した。記事コンテンツの無断利用に対し、著作権侵害の差し止めと計44億円の損害賠償を求めている。
Perplexity AIは、ユーザーの質問に対してインターネット上の情報を収集し、生成AIで回答を出力する検索サービスを提供している。両社によると、少なくとも2024年6月ごろから、両社のサーバーに保存された記事を許諾なく複製・保存し、回答の一部として繰り返し表示していたという。
両社は、自社サイトでのコンテンツ収集を防ぐrobots.txtにより利用拒否の意思を示していたが、Perplexity AIは無視して情報を取得していたとされる。無許諾で回答に使われていたコンテンツには、有料会員限定記事や提携先に配信した記事も含まれる。
また、両社はPerplexity AIが、回答の引用元に社名や記事を表示しながら、実際とは異なる虚偽情報を表示していた点も問題視。新聞社としての信用を毀損したとし、不正競争行為にも違反すると主張している。訴訟では、記事の複製および送信の差し止めとともに、保存した記事の削除、虚偽情報の送信停止、各社22億円の損害賠償を請求する。
Perplexity AIに対しては、読売新聞社も8月7日に著作権侵害で提訴しており、無断使用の中止と損害賠償として約21億6,800万円を求めている。
