大谷翔平の投手復帰 ロバーツ監督「まだ数か月かかる」
大リーグ、ドジャースで今シーズン、投打の二刀流の復活を目指す大谷翔平選手について、ロバーツ監督は、ピッチャーとしての復帰まではまだ数か月かかるという見通しを示しました。
大谷選手は今シーズン、投打の二刀流の復活を目指していて、当初は早ければ5月のピッチャーとしての復帰が見込まれていましたが、コンディションへの負担などを考慮してシーズン前のキャンプ中に調整のペースを落とし、復帰時期も白紙となっていました。
ロバーツ監督は26日、本拠地ロサンゼルスでのパイレーツとの試合前に取材に応じ、大谷選手のピッチャーとしての復帰について「先発投手としてしっかり体を作らないといけないし、それには時間がかかる。まだ数か月かかる」と見通しを示しました。
その上で「復帰が早めになるのか、後ろ倒しになっていくのか、まだわからない。今はとにかく慎重に進めている」と話し、復帰を急がない考えを示しました。
大谷選手は、キャッチボールやブルペンでの投球練習を重ねて調整を続けていて、この日の試合前は、今月20日に妻の真美子さんの出産に伴う「父親リスト」から復帰して以降初めて、10日ぶりにブルペンに入り、座ったキャッチャーにストレートとツーシーム、それにスプリットをあわせて28球投げました。
練習を終えたあとは笑顔で赤ちゃんをあやすような身振り手振りをし、投手コーチと談笑する姿もあり、父親らしい一面もかいま見えました。
ドジャースの首脳陣はこれまでの取材に、大谷選手がポストシーズンで二刀流でプレーすることを優先する考えを示していて、今後もコンディションを確認しながら慎重にピッチャーとしての調整を進めていくものとみられます。
