Google、年内のサードパーティCookie廃止を延期
Googleは24日、Chromeブラウザにおいて、2024年後半にすべてのサードパーティCookieを廃止するという計画を延期すると発表した。2025年の早期の開始を目指す。

サードパーティCookieは、複数のサイトを横断してブラウザの閲覧を追跡できるため、効率的な広告表示などに用いられてきた。しかし、オンラインでの行動の追跡によるプライバシーへの懸念の高まりなどから、Googleは段階的に廃止する方針だ。ただし当初は、2022年までに段階的に終了を予定していたが、その後2023年後半、2024年後半と延期してきた。
延期の理由は、業界・規制当局・開発者からのフィードバックと、その調整において継続的な課題があることと、CMA(英国の競争・市場庁)が市場参加者に6月末までの提出を求めているテスト結果など、証拠を検討するための十分な時間を確保するため。
Googleでは、CMAなどと連携し、2024年度中にプロセスを完了。2025年の初頭からサードパーティCookieの非推奨化を進める計画。
