“トランプ大統領 秋にインド訪問 計画なくなった” 米有力紙
アメリカの有力紙ニューヨーク・タイムズは30日、複数の関係者の話としてトランプ大統領が秋にインドを訪問する計画がなくなったと伝えました。インドでは、ことしの後半に日米豪印の4か国によるクアッドの首脳会合の開催が予定されていて、アメリカとインドの関係のさらなる悪化も懸念されます。

トランプ大統領はこれまで、日米豪印の4か国によるクアッドの首脳会合にあわせ、ことしの後半にインドを訪問する考えを示していたとしています。
報道では、軍事行動の応酬が続いていたインドとパキスタンとの間で5月に実現した停戦合意をめぐるインドのモディ首相とのやり取りが、関係の悪化につながったとしています。
具体的には、みずからが「問題を解決した」と主張するトランプ大統領が、6月の電話会談の中で、自身をノーベル平和賞に推薦するようほのめかしたのに対し、モディ首相はいらだって、「アメリカの関与は停戦に何の関係もない」と応じたということです。
トランプ政権は、インドがロシアから原油や石油製品を購入していることを理由にインドからの輸入品に課している追加関税を50％に引き上げるなど、両国の対立が際立っていてアメリカとインドの関係のさらなる悪化も懸念されます。
こうした中、モディ首相は7年ぶりに中国を訪れ、習近平国家主席やロシアのプーチン大統領が参加する上海協力機構の首脳会議に出席する予定です。
