台湾は、10月10日を「建国記念日」と位置づける「双十節」としていて、台北にある総統府の前では10日、式典が開かれ、頼清徳総統が演説しました。

頼総統は中国が、軍事力や武力攻撃に至らないいわゆるグレーゾーンの手法で圧力を強め、台湾海峡の現状を変更しようとしていると強調しました。

そして、半導体産業など、台湾の強みを生かして防衛力の強化につなげる考えを示しました。

また、先月の米中首脳会談などを念頭に「米中が対話を通じて競争を管理することを歓迎する」と述べる一方、台湾の人たちが生存する権利を尊重すべきだとして、一方的な現状の変更を防ぐため、インド太平洋地域の民主主義国が連携すべきだと呼びかけました。

その上で「台湾は平和を大切にするが、自由を放棄することはない。権威主義が民主主義を侵食することを許さず、責任ある行動で台湾海峡とインド太平洋地域の平和と安定を守る決意だ」と訴えました。
