ドコモ、個人向けの「副回線サービス」を9月末で終了
NTTドコモは、個人向けの「副回線サービス」を、2026年9月30日をもって終了する。3月26日で新規申し込みを停止する。なお、法人向けの副回線サービスは継続して提供する。
「副回線サービス」は、ドコモの回線がつながりにくい場合にKDDIの回線へ切り替えて通信を利用できるオプションサービス。災害時や通信障害時の通信確保のため、ドコモでは2023年6月から提供してきたが、通信事業者が共同で取り組む「JAPANローミング」や公衆無線LANサービス「00000JAPAN」など、代替となる通信確保手段の整備が進んできたことから、個人向けの副回線サービスの終了を決めた。
副回線サービスは、2022年7月に発生したKDDIの大規模通信障害を契機に、KDDIとソフトバンクが協力して開発。その後、ドコモも対応し、個人向けは月額429円で、データ容量0.5GBで展開してきた。
大規模な通信障害や災害発生時などで回線がつながりにくいといった非常時の利用を念頭にしてきたが、代替サービスの登場もあり終了する。KDDIとソフトバンクも、個人向けの副回線サービスは8月末で終了する。
代替サービスに位置付けられる「JAPANローミング」は、かねてから検討されてきた非常時の事業者間ローミング。災害などで契約するキャリアのネットワークが利用できなくなった場合、ほかのキャリアのネットワークに一時的に接続(ローミング接続)でき、通信が可能になる仕組みで、2025年度末までの開始が予定されている。
