近江鉄道、ICOCA導入開始 JR西の定期券も1枚に
近江鉄道は、JR西日本のICOCAシステムを鉄道線全線に導入し、交通系ICカード「ICOCA」でのIC定期券サービスを2026年3月から開始する。サービスを開始する路線は、近江鉄道線全線(米原～貴生川、高宮～多賀大社前、八日市～近江八幡)。
ICOCA定期券サービスは、近江鉄道線の定期券ときっぷの機能を合わせもつカードとして利用可能。定期券区間内では、乗車時と降車時に各駅と車内に設置する入出場機にタッチすれば利用できる。チャージしておくことで定期区間外への乗り越し運賃の精算も可能。
さらに、近江鉄道線のICOCA定期券とJR西日本の鉄道定期券を1枚のICOCAで利用できる。それぞれの区間の購入については、各社の窓口で購入する必要がある。
ICOCAとICOCA定期券の販売は、近江鉄道線の有人駅窓口で行なう。デポジット500円を含んだ料金で販売され、デポジットはICカード払戻し時に無手数料で返金される。
また、年度内には、スマートフォンやパソコンを使ってWebサイト上で定期券を購入出来るサービス「iCONPASS」の提供も予定している。
