加藤財務相 ベッセント財務長官と会談 為替めぐり理解求めたか
アメリカを訪問している加藤財務大臣は日本時間の25日朝早く、アメリカのベッセント財務長官と会談しました。トランプ大統領が円安をけん制する発言を繰り返す中、会談では為替について「通貨安誘導はしていない」という日本の立場について、理解を求めたとみられます。
加藤財務大臣はアメリカのワシントンで開催されたG20＝主要20か国の財務相・中央銀行総裁会議のあと、ベッセント財務長官と会談しました。
ベッセント財務長官はトランプ政権の関税措置をめぐる日米の閣僚交渉を担当していて、今回の会談では為替が議題にあがったとみられます。
為替をめぐっては、トランプ大統領が円安をけん制する発言を繰り返していて、23日も「中国の通貨は安く不公平だ。日本も常に円安を求めてきた」などと主張しました。
一方、ベッセント財務長官は、会談に先立って日本との交渉で「特定の通貨目標はない」と述べています。
会談でベッセント財務長官が為替についてどのような認識を示したかはまだ明らかになっていませんが、加藤財務大臣は「日本は通貨安誘導はしていない」という日本の立場について理解を求めたとみられます。
金融市場には、トランプ大統領が円安を繰り返しけん制していることから、今回の会談でアメリカが円安ドル高の是正を求めてくるのではないかといった警戒感があり、外国為替市場で急激に円高が進むなど不安定な値動きが続いていました。
貿易に頼る日本にとって為替は経済情勢を大きく左右するため、今後、為替の政策について日米間で共通認識をもつことができるかが焦点となりそうです。
