Googleは14日、国内の「Google Play」の手数料を9月30日から引き下げると発表した。米国などでは6月末から引き下げられ、日本では年内の改定を予定していたが、前倒しして対応する。新たな料金体系では、年間収益100万ドル(USD)を超える標準料金では、サブスクリプション以外の新規インストールの手数料を20%とし、プラス5%の課金手数料となる。新体系ではサービス手数料と課金手数料を分割している。当初、年末の対応を予定していたが、バンダイナムコエンターテインメント、ポノス、MIXI、LINEヤフーなど、日本のデベロッパーからの前向きなフィードバックを受けたこと、公正取引委員会との協議も踏まえ、日本での展開時期を前倒しした。なお、安全性に関する主要な基準を満たすアプリストアのインストール手順を簡素化する「登録済みアプリストア向けプログラム」も準備を進めており、同プログラムについては、予定通り26年12月31日の提供開始となる予定。
