　日本の人口減少が加速している。総務省が9月29日に公表した2025年国勢調査の人口等基本集計によると、25年10月1日時点の総人口は1億2297万2528人。20年からの5年間で317万3571人、2.5％減少した。前の5年間(15〜20年)の減少数は約95万人で、減少幅は3倍以上に拡大した。　人口減少は、どの街で大きく進んでいるのか。国勢調査の確定値を基に、20年から25年にかけて人口が減った市区町村を減少数の多い順にランキングした。対象は全国1741市区町村で今回は上位1000位までを掲載する。政令指定都市は市全体で、東京23区は各区をそれぞれ集計した。

■福岡県北九州市は3万5437人減少　人口減少数が最も多かったのは福岡県北九州市だ。5年間で3万5437人減少しており、減少率は3.8％だった。2位は静岡市で3万4608人の減少。減少率は5.0％にのぼる。3位の京都市は5年間で146万3723人から143万0062人へ3万3661人減少している。　続く4位は神戸市の3万0155人減、5位は新潟市の3万0136人減だった。上位5市はいずれも、5年間で3万人以上の人口を失った。

　上位には、人口の1割以上が失われた街もある。14位の広島県呉市は、20年の21万4592人から25年には19万1584人となり、20万人を下回った。5年間の減少数は2万3008人、減少率は10.7％だった。　なお、このランキングが示すのは、出生・死亡や転入・転出などによる総人口の変化であり、減少数がそのまま「街から出ていった人数」を示すわけではない。
