フィリピンのマルコス大統領は、日本との間で海洋の境界を画定するための交渉をめぐり、中国が対象に台湾の東の海域が含まれるなどとして反発していることについて、「2国間の合意であり、境界線を決めるのは日本とフィリピンだ」と強調しました。

マルコス大統領は14日、マニラ市で開かれた外国特派員協会主催の会合に出席し、報道陣の取材に応じました。

この中で、日本とフィリピンが、ことし5月の首脳会談で両国の海洋の境界を画定するため正式な交渉を開始すると決定したことについて、「境界線が一部、重なりあっているところがあり、両国の間でどこに設定するか合意する必要がある」と説明しました。

この交渉をめぐって中国は、対象の海域は台湾の東にあり、EEZ＝排他的経済水域などを有するとして反発しています。

これについてマルコス大統領は「他国からの意見は考慮するが、2国間の合意であり、境界線をどこに設定するかを決めるのは日本とフィリピンだ」と強調しました。

日本政府との協議について「大きな障害があるとは考えていない。年内に交渉を終えることを望んでいる」と進展に意欲を示しました。
