米軍 新開発の中距離ミサイルシステムを日本に初展開
アメリカ軍は新たに開発した地上発射型の中距離ミサイルシステムを日本に初めて展開させ、日本から中国にも届くミサイルの能力を示すことで抑止力を強化するねらいがあると見られます。
アメリカ軍が新たに開発したのは地上発射型の中距離ミサイルシステム「タイフォン」で15日、アメリカ軍岩国基地でメディアに公開されました。
アメリカ軍は今月11日からの自衛隊との大規模な共同訓練で九州・沖縄など各地で離島防衛を想定した訓練を実施していて、このなかで初めて地上発射型の中距離ミサイルシステムを日本の基地に展開させました。
「タイフォン」は巡航ミサイル「トマホーク」を発射でき、射程1600キロのタイプであれば、岩国基地から東シナ海、そして中国の一部に届く能力があります。
日本への展開のねらいについて部隊のウェイド・ジャーマン司令官は「今回、我々は自衛隊とともに厳しく現実的な訓練を実施する機会を得ており、必要に応じて戦う準備を整えられることを確認する。岩国基地では航空基地と港湾の両方でタイフォンを展開するさまざまな運用形態を検証する機会となる」と話しています。
一方、今回の展開について中国は「断固拒否する」とし、ロシアは「さらなる不安定を招く行動だ」などとして、ともに反発を強めています。
「タイフォン」開発の背景に中国軍への危機感
アメリカ軍の「タイフォン」は新たに開発された移動可能な地上発射型の中距離ミサイルシステムで、さまざまな領域で作戦を展開するアメリカ陸軍のマルチ・ドメイン・タスクフォースが運用しています。
システムは巡航ミサイル「トマホーク」と対空ミサイル「SM6」を発射できます。
アメリカは冷戦末期に旧ソビエトと結んだINF＝中距離核ミサイルの全廃条約で、地上発射型の中距離ミサイルを保有してこなかった一方、中国は中距離ミサイルの生産と配備に力を入れ、少なくとも1800発以上を保有していると分析されています。
このためアメリカ軍は中国軍との間で中距離ミサイルの能力に大きな差があるとして危機感を強め、2019年のINF全廃条約の失効後、開発を急ぎ、インド太平洋地域への配備を目指してきました。
そして去年、フィリピンで実施した訓練で初めて「タイフォン」を展開し、今回、初めて日本にも展開させました。
