社会的身体をテーマとした「体を成す からだをなす」展──銀座メゾンエルメス ル・フォーラムにて開催
エルメス財団は、フランスの現代美術地域コレクション「FRAC Grand Large」が収蔵する作品とともにグループ展「体を成す からだをなす」を7月19日（土）から開催する。身体は、社会の価値観やジェンダー、視線、役割などを通して意味づけられる存在であり、ただの肉体ではなく、社会の鏡であることを作品を通じて表現する。

「体を成す からだをなす」は、「社会的身体」をテーマに、ヨーロッパ、アメリカ、日本出身の13人のアーティストによる、1973年から2025年までの作品を紹介する展覧会だ。タイトルの「体を成す」はフランス語の「Faire Ccorps（＝一体となる、調和する）」に基づいており、「FRAC Grand Large」のディレクター、ケレン・デトンがコ・キュレーターに名を連ねる。
「FRAC Grand Large」は、前身であるFRAC Nord—Pas de Calaisがリールに設立された1982年から、1996年にダンケルクへの移転を経た現在まで、750人のアーティストやデザイナーによる2000展を超える公共コレクションを形成してきた。これらは、1960年代以降のフランスおよび国際的な現代美術とデザインのさまざまな潮流を紹介するコレクションとなっている。「FRAC Grand Large」は、美術館やアートセンターと連携し、国境を越えたアートネットワークを構築してきたほか、これらを学校や病院などとともに展覧会を行うなど、地域のハブとなる活動も推進している。
■身体の社会性を問う
「アートとは、人生をアートよりも興味深いものにするものだ」とは、フルクサスのアーティスト、ロベール・フィリウの言葉だが、ここには生活とアートの両義的な関係が示されている。本展では、アートによってもたらされる日常や秩序の可変性に着眼しつつ、個人あるいは集団的に機能する社会的な身体を浮き彫りにする作品を考察していく。
展示作品には、身体と密接に結びついた芸術形式であるパフォーマンスとして、ヘレン・チャドウィックのジェンダーを問う《In the kitchen》や、アンドレ・カデレの《丸い木の棒》など、1970年代を代表する写真から始まり、アナ・トーフのビデオ《サイドショー》や、ネフェリ・パパディムーリのコスチュームとビデオ作品《森になる》などを紹介する。
また技術と知の共有を媒介にした創作実践から作品を制作するアーティスト・コレクティブのアバケ/オバケや大阪在住の笹原晃平の作品も展示し、多様な視点や行為が交差する場を形成する。
